What's on the label is what you get. Here's how to read one, and what we hold ourselves to.

Super Omega-3 supplement facts panel

Super Omega-3 supplement facts, as shown on its product page.

How to read a supplement facts panel

  1. Serving size

Everything below it is per serving. Check how many capsules, softgels or scoops that is, and how many servings are in the bottle.

  2. Amount per serving

The exact amount of each ingredient, in mg, mcg or IU. This is what you're actually taking.

  3. % Daily Value

How much of the recommended daily amount one serving covers. A dagger (†) means no daily value has been set.

  4. Other ingredients

Capsule material, coatings and anything else in the product. Check here for allergens and dietary needs.

Honest claims

We describe what a product is made to support, and nothing more. You'll see the FDA disclaimer wherever a statement needs one.

What does the † mean?

US law lets supplements describe how an ingredient supports the body, but those statements aren't reviewed by the FDA. The dagger points to the required disclaimer: these statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, and the products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
